THE BIBÉMUS QUARRIES
(11 oils, 16 watercolors)
Outside Cézanne's cottage, following the pathway in the shade of tall pines allows you to discover the scenes Cézanne painted: the famous red stone, the geology of the plateau and the exploitation of the quarries whose stone was used to construct monuments in Aix from ancient times until the 18th century. Cézanne painted 11 oils and 16 watercolors in the midst of this landscape where mineral and vegetation coexist and complement each other.
